I have a job interview this friday; that was..kinda unexpected.
I got a call from a job agency in Nijmegen last week who'd read my online resume, and they might have a job offer for me - part helpdesk, part financial, part administration.. so we made an appointment, which was yesterday.
Turns out they'd found a different offer for me which they wanted to show me first: part helpdesk, part tester, part SQL programmer. The job agent told me she'd read the word 'SQL' in my profile and had linked me to a job. I mentioned not having done much programming since leaving school, and that 'using SQL-LIMS' (an administration tool with an SQL-database behind it) is not entirely the same as 'SQL programmer' (lol), so she called her contact at said potential-job so I could explain that to him, but he was very enthousiastic ("once you've learnt it, it'll stick.. it'll just take some freshening up") so all's well.
They'd call me back. And they did. Or e-mailed me rather, because my new phone refuses to operate, inviting me for a job interview this friday. Pay's good, and it's in Nijmegen, 5 mins from our home. Fingers crossed! |

Kapitalism and commercialism triumph, for the climax of the missing/murdered? Holloway case will be aired on dutch tv this sunday, don't miss it - and dont worry Americans wanting the same climax, for US TV stations are interested in buying as well... - famous dutch crime investigator / detective / journalist Peter R. de Vries claims to have solved the case, even though it uses forbidden hidden camera techniques, like he's solved or cracked other big cases in the past.
Unfortunately for the media hype people, an intern spilled the beans early this morning, taking the wind out of their sails, in an early morning radio show.. -though the truth of her statement, or that of the TV show this sunday, have yet to be proven...
But if true, and Holloway's mother has been flown to the Netherlands and informed of this already, then Van der Sloot was indeed involved, to some extent, though murder was not the case: there was alcohol involved, possibly drugs, and a heavy arguement, and walking into the sea out of anger and rage.. and strong currents - followed by those witness to it holding silent and lying about it...
true? another lie? Who's to know...but that's the latest update. And it's only fair to share... ;o |

since we're planning on remodelling the house, I decided to write the blueprints already:

Your guests enjoy your collection of every console and associated game ever made. Except the Intellivision -- those controllers drive them NUTS. Outside is the moat that protects your home from goblin invaders and extended family.

It's been months of planning now, but at last it seems like smooth sailing ahead for our own LARP event; the most important documents have been fleshed out -even though some are still being revised- and our Playtest was, dare I say so, a success. Most of the players were new to the world of LARP, and they had a good time. It also was our first real experience in the field as an organisation, but it went smoothly; enough learning points, but enough of that, this is about something else...
..namely Ovarion I, our first full weekend event! Originally we'd scheduled a bar night of one night and perhaps the next morning, but people were more in favor of a whole weekend, which is good :D - so, arrangements have already been made and a date is available: 11, 12 and 13 april 2008 will be the date of Ovarion-I, so make sure you write that one down. ;)
So the times of planning and work resume.. let's see where this goes :) |

There was a chicken and a horse playing together on a farm one day. The
horse fell into a mud pit and yelled to the chicken to run to the house
and get the farmer. The chicken ran to the house and the farmer was
nowhere to be found. So, it got into the farmer's BMW and pulled the
horse out with it.
The next day the chicken and the horse were playing on the farm again.
This time the chicken fell into the mud pit and yelled to the horse to
get help. So, the horse stood over the mud pit and told the chicken to
grab on to his penis and he'd pull him out. The chicken grabbed on and,
indeed, the horse pulled him out.
The moral of the story: If you're hung like a horse, you don't need a
BMW to pick up chicks. |

BILTHOVEN - Het Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu (RIVM) gaat onderzoek doen naar de Q-koorts die dit voorjaar voor het eerst in Nederland is uitgebroken.
Directeur Roel Coutinho van het Centrum Infectieziektebestrijding heeft berichten hierover woensdag bevestigd.
Naar nu bekend is geworden zijn dit voorjaar rond het dorp Herpen tussen Oss en Nijmegen 59 mensen besmet geraakt met de Q-koorts, een ziekte die in het uiterste geval dodelijk kan zijn.
Het viel een huisarts op dat zich in korte tijd veel patiënten bij hem meldden met longonsteking of verschijnselen die daarop leken. De patiënten zijn inmiddels hersteld. De ziekte is waarschijnlijk overgebracht via schapen, geiten en eventueel koeien.

Zojuist spam/reclame van Archonia in mijn digitale gleuf gevonden - de zomermaanden zijn weer voorbij dus Archonia komt met allerlei "Back to school / work" aanbiedingen, en tips voor leesvoer.
In het bijzonder worden de duitstalige manga's aangeprezen.
WTF?
Duitstalig? Dus tijdens of na het filerijden vol met asociale BMW'ers (het is net wasmachine-merk Miele: er is geen betere - beter dan asociaal dus) en snijdende Mercedessen en NSB-wagens (Nederlandse wagens met een duits nummerbord) moet ik dan nog eens aan een manga gaan zitten in diezelfde duitse taal?
Ik vond nederlandse manga's al erg genoeg, dankuwel...
en nu is het tijd voor soep. |
